I was telling someone the other day about some of our great dinners and lunches. But most of all our friendship. I grew up in a time when priests were highly thought of and the alarming travesties of today were never thought of. Fr Maurus was a gifted person. He knew when to push and when to pull back. He kept me on the right path when my doubt in my religion had me confused. He was a priest and a person that all should aspire to be.

We enjoyed Fr. Maurus both as our pastor and a friend who dined with us. He did love my pasta and I enjoyed preparing it for him. I only regret I didn't do it more often. We will always remember the wonderful memorial service he conducted for my wife's dad, Charles weingartner. I am glad I got a chance to help celebrate his life yesterday and meet his brother John, sisters Helen and Christine at the visitation. The photos they showed me did indeed show a life well and richly lived. We will pray for you and your extended family who I know will miss him also.

Fr. Maurus was a true Christian who cared for all people. I regret that I only came to know him over the past few years but will still miss his wit and priestly guidance. Rest in peace my friend.

To my dear friend. Having known you since I was in high school at St Gregorys I think we shared a lot of conversations and good meals. We should have gone to Cattlemens more. You could always find time to listen and if advice were needed, you offered. I know the last couple of years were tough on you but you championed your way through them. Your friendship will be missed. May you rest in peace and always smile when you look down on us. You'll be hearing from me often. Your friend.

Father Maurus was a dear friend, pastor and business customer. During the years I knew him best, I was not yet Catholic, but he never pressured me to join. His gentle nature did much to draw me to my now beloved Church. Four of our children were altar servers for him. He baptized two others. We will love him always.
