Michael Elder Obituary

Michael Allen Elder died on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 3, 1948, as the son of Colonel Carl W. Elder and Alta M. Elder. Mike Elder attended the United States Military Academy, received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Duke University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. Following service in the United States Army Special Forces, Mike returned to Oklahoma to serve as an executive and member of multiple oil and gas ventures. After marrying Kellie D. Elder in 1993, Mike and his wife moved to Dallas, Texas, where he opened a successful law practice, which continued until his death. Mike was a loving husband to his wife, Kellie, and a dedicated father to his son, Blair, daughter in law, Ashley, grandson, Jacob, son, David, daughter-in-law, Adrienne, son, James, and daughter, Anne. He is also survived by his older brother, James, sister-in-law, Peggy, and their four sons, Brad, Jeff, Mike and Sam. Mike Elder will always be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends and for his extraordinary strength of mind and spirit. Funeral services will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 North Shartel Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on Monday, November 1, 2004 at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, in Memory of Michael A. Elder, P.O. Box 161150, Austin, Texas 78716-1150.
