Mitzi Freeman Obituary

Aug. 17, 1933 - Mar. 3, 2012 CHECOTAH On March 3, 2012 Mitzi "Lu" Freeman passed from the loving arms of her family into the arms of her Heavenly Father. Mitzi was the eldest child born to Jim and Arlas Wright in Stroud, OK on August 17, 1933. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mitzi will be deeply, deeply missed. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1952 and then married the love of her life, Kern Freeman. Together they had three children: Sherri, Kristi and Craig. Mitzi retired from Tinker AFB with 28+ years of service. At the time of her illness in December 2011, she was an active member of the Checotah Red Hat Idols, Friendly Lake Eufaula Supporters (FLEAS), Will Rogers Good Sams of Claremore, OK, and was a Stampin Up distributor. Mitzi is survived by her husband, Kern, of the home, and her children, Sherri Turner of Moore OK, Kristi Davis and Gary of Moore OK, Craig Freeman and Betty of Okla. City OK, 6 precious grandchildren and their spouses, 7 adorable great-grandchildren, 2 adored brothers and a sister-in-law, and several deeply loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and a grandson. Mitzi was an avid game player. Cards, Dominoes, Farkle, or Skip Bo. Anything anyone wanted to play. And she was always the scorekeeper! She also was a passionate crafter and we are sure Mom is leading a craft class in Heaven right now! We would like to thank the loving and caring staff of Baptist Hospital 801 ICU, LTAC of Edmond, and Midwest City Nursing Center for their excellent care of our Mother during her brief illness. If you prefer, in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the ARDS Foundation at ardsusa.org. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012, 10 am at Resthaven Chapel, 500 SW 104th St., OKC, OK. Online condolences can be made at resthavenokc.com

What a lady! Mitzi was so full of life and always enjoyed everything she did. She was a friend that I will never forget. We always had good times together whether they be doing arts and crafts or going on trips . Mitzi and I always had a wonderful time in Branson with the Red Hats and the fashion show. What a pretty lady she was. I will miss her terribly.
