Patricia Croft Fuller was born on April 14, 1931, to John Harrell "Bob" Roberts and Kathryn Henry Roberts. Born premature, she used one of the first incubators in OKC, and at three days old, was obviously too wiggly to stay in it, so she was sent home. Attending school in OKC thru 12th grade, with a couple of years in Little Rock, AR, she graduated Classen High School in '49.
At OCU, she met John L. Croft Jr., and they were married in 1952. They had two boys, Charles in '56 and Robert in '67. Patricia was patient and caring always, but with Robbie's mental handicap, especially so. Always interested in childhood education, she and friend Dannye Newberry got their masters while starting the preschool with Montessori emphasis at Wesley United Methodist Church, which they ran for 25 years with help from Carina Malone, Jean Hendrickson and others.
She loved her church family and bridge partners and also teaching Sunday school and doing the daily crypto quote. John retired early, and they were able to travel to the Estes Park and other western places. Pat made many trips to Ruidoso, NM to see her cousins, Sue and Bill Fore, whom Robbie adored. They had great fun with friends going to Charleston, SC, Texas Hill Country and more.
After John's death in '92, she later met Ray Fuller just walking in Penn Square Mall, and they were married in '95. They were a great match ("set up before the foundation of the world," he said) and had many fun trips to the Ruidoso area, Grand Canyon and more. They also encouraged each other's love for the Bible and the gospel of grace. In the last year, she enjoyed seeing the horses, birds, deer and peaceful outdoors at Joy's house, and of course, could tell us what kind of birds we were seeing.
A special word of gratitude must be given to Rachel Johnson, who with her children's presence, and her care and special friendship like a daughter, meant so much to Patricia these last several years and especially, the last two months.
Patricia is survived by son, Charles and friend Joy Milligan; sister, Nancy Taylor and daughter, Mary; nephew, Wesley Taylor-Lekites; niece, Lisa Jones; and stepson, Glen Fuller and wife Jane with their children, Mitchel, Jason, Michaela, Josh, Cassie, and Chris.
A service celebrating Patricia's life will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 22 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with a reception following.
Memorials may be given to Coffee Creek Riding Center for the Handicapped or Wesley United Methodist Church.
