PATRICIA STAMMAN Obituary
Joan and twin brother, John, were born in Coffeyville, KS to Hervey and Thelma Grimm on Halloween, 1945. The family soon moved to Oklahoma City. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1963 and married her high school sweetheart, Don Stamman. After his service in the US Air Force in California, they returned to OKC and raised their children.
Joan was preceded in death by Don, her friend and former spouse, on Thanksgiving 2013. She is survived by her two daughters: Angela Mead of Pasadena CA, husband Aaron and daughters Isabella and Olivia; and Stephani Roper of OKC, husband Jack and children Aden, Ava and Sophie; her brother, John Grimm of Carrolton, TX, wife Susan, daughter Dawn and granddaughter Haley; sister-in-law Cheryl Hudak and daughter Alexis Mayfield; cousin Jim Schoonover of Coffeyville, KS and wife Eva; and her numerous friends, including her church/work/shopping /lunch buddies, Gene Lowell Dunlevy and Marilyn McMurray.
Joan spent many years working in the oil and gas industry, including several years as a VP at Jaytex Oil & Gas Inc. In 1996 at the age of 50, Joan made the bold move of a career change into the world of real estate with Keller Williams Realty, where she developed a successful career as a realtor and served on the Agent Leadership Counsel with Keller Williams Elite. Due to her love and knowledge of the OKC metro area and her caring and kind manner, Joan excelled in this field, building strong professional and personal relationships along the way. In 2001, Joan won the votes of her peers to receive the Excel Award for exhibiting excellent KW culture and leadership. She and daughter, Stephani, worked as a team at KW Elite for the past 17 years.
Joan volunteered periodically for Christmas Connection and with her Keller Williams community for annual Red Day events, serving youth, veterans and the underprivileged. Even in death, Joan continued to be outwardly focused by making it clear that she wished to donate her body to medical research and education. Likewise and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made at www.cancerresearch.org.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff of Valir Hospice for their loving and patient care over the past several weeks, and to Dr. Sanjay Hapani, who attentively cared for Joan throughout her battle with cancer.
Joan was a faithful member of her church, enjoying weekly worship services and sermons by Pastor Bob Long at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. It was her faith in a good and loving God that enabled her to stay positive through her battle with cancer.
Although Joan was a successful businesswoman, her greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren on outings, shopping and travel. We already miss her so very much, and are so grateful for her life and the love that she showered on us all. You are invited to read more about her and to leave thoughts and favorite memories of Joan on her memorial website page, http://joan-stamman.forevermissed.com.
