PATSY ACERS Obituary

Patsy Acers
March 10, 1933 - October 6, 2020

EDMOND, OK
Patsy Pierce Acers was born on March 10, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Claude J. Pierce and Clara Belle Chaney Pierce. Patsy grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma and attended Muskogee High School as a Muskogee Rougher and was proud of her Cherokee heritage. She later attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was a cheerleader for her beloved O.U. Sooners.
In 1955 Patsy married Dr. Thomas E. Acers, MD and together they had four daughters. Patsy is survived by her daughters, Alison Jetton and her husband Jim of Dallas, Texas, Angie Crisp and her husband Steve of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ann Acers Warn, MD of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Ashley Acers of Salem, Oregon, along with her 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In 1981 she married her high school sweetheart Jim Robinson. They remained best friends and shared their lives until his passing.
In 1985, Patsy started her "second" career as a financial consultant with Connecticut Mutual and later with Mass Mutual Insurance Companies. Through her work she developed her "Do You Really Want To Be A Bag Lady?" presentation, where her alter ego, "Betty Bag Lady" educated women about the important need to be involved and take steps to protect themselves through prudent financial planning. She was a masterful presenter, able to convey her message with sensitivity, clarity, and humor. She always had fun and was willing to poke fun at herself. As a successful businesswoman she achieved a lucrative title as member of the Million Dollar Round Table for numerous years. Outside of her alter ego Patsy was known for always dressing like a million bucks with her hair and make-up perfectly done.
Patsy will be missed by all her family and by her always loyal companion, her adoring dog Sam. Her family would like to thank the staff of Touchmark Retirement Center and her always on call friend, Jill Olson.
A memorial service to remember and celebrate Patsy's life will be held Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 10:00AM at Crawford Family Funeral Service in Edmond, OK. Inurnment will take place on a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Oklahoma Humane Society or the First United Methodist Church of Edmond. Information for making donations may be found at:

I first met Patsy at a Bag Lady seminar. Her genuine concern and desire to help women become financially savvy led me to become a client of hers for which I am forever grateful. She will be missed.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
