PAUL SCHEMMER Obituary

January 21, 1929 - August 6, 2012 KINGFISHER Paul Otto Schemmer was born January 21, 1929 to Gus and Katherine Hauser Schemmer on the family farm just north of Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He passed from this life peacefully at home on Monday, August 6, 2012 after a short battle with brain cancer. He was 83. Paul attended Kingfisher Schools graduating in the Class of 1947. He was active in band and football and was an FFA American Farmer. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. Paul married Evelyn Snethen on January 7, 1951, beginning a union of 61 years which blessed them with two boys, Neil and John Schemmer. He was a farmer, a career he continued until his death. Paul was a life long member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, which later became the Federated Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He served as Elder and multiple terms on the church board. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Emma Karrenbrock Schemmer and special aunt Lydia Layton. He is survived by his wife Evelyn of the home; son Neil and his wife Kathy of Norman, their children Chris and Emma of Norman and Matt and his fiance Sarah Neafus of Tulsa; son John and his children, Zach, Hannah and J.P. all of Tulsa; brother Frederick Schemmer of Kingfisher; sister Dorothy Schemmer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in Paul's memory to the Federated Church Memorial Fund, Russell-Murray Hospice, or the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 13, at the Federated Church in Kingfisher.
