"Ray" Homer, Jr. Oct 10, 1951 - Nov 7, 2014 FLETCHER Raymond Eugene "Ray" Homer, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on November 7, 2014, surrounded by his family. He graduated from U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City, where he earned his Eagle Scout rank. He worked in law enforcement since the 1970s, beginning his career with the FBI. He went on to work for a number of law enforcement agencies including the OSBI, Moore Police Department, Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, CLEET, the Oklahoma City Police Department, the Highway Patrol and the Department of Public Safety. Ray also retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of reserve and active duty service. He graduated from Oklahoma State University. In all things, he was a consummate professional. He leaves behind his mother, Carol Homer; his wife, Debe; daughter, Lisa and her husband Bryan Head; his son, Brian; his brothers, Ronnie, James, Steve, Kevin, and Patrick; his grandsons, Cason and Zachary; step-grandchildren, Hollyann and Austin Head, and Kelby and Kole Baker; his beloved Aunt Shirley and her husband Danny Shapio; as well as numerous cousins. Ray was a friend to many. He loved his family and friends, his work and serving in the military. Ray enjoyed sharing his expertise with others. He mentored many in his career in law enforcement. He also had a keen interest in solving cold cases, spending hours pouring over old files trying to help other families find closure. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be under the direction of the John Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel in Moore, OK. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the Fresh Start Church in Moore, located at 309 North Eastern Avenue, with interment to follow at the Moore City Cemetery. Ray and I worked together at OSBI in the identification unit and in the field conducting CSI.

We had a lot of fun on and off the job; and Ray enjoyed coaching boys sports events after work.

May the Peace of the Lord be with Ray´s family.

I first met Ray when I was a young police explorer at MPD. He was a genuine good man. We spent a lot of Saturdays together at the OU games in the 70's. I have a great deal of respect for him and know that he was an honorable man, and a good cop! May he now rest from his labors. May God bless his family.

Ray and I served together as Police Officers and as Soldiers in the Army as we were on the same MP team. He was second to none in both. Ray was very gifted, professional, and dependable, as you could always count on him to have your six covered. You were one fine Lawman, Soldier, and Friend. Of the troops, and for the troops, that was you! Rest in peace Brother.

Ray was an inspirational co-worker and a great friend. We shared many moments together working OKC 89er baseball games. He was always positive about life, even through his ordeal with cancer, and I will miss him. Rest in God's Peace my friend.
