RAYMOND TOTORO Obituary

Feb. 8, 1943 - Aug. 4, 2016 DENTON, TX John left this earth Aug. 4 into the loving arms of his Lord. John, or to his friends, "Ray" was born in Oklahoma City. He moved to Denton, TX as a small child, where he lived and graduated from high school. He made many cherished memories in Texas that would stay with him forever. Later into adulthood, John spent time in the Navy, leaving with an honorable discharge. Following his time with the Navy, John worked with the state of Oklahoma, and then the state of Georgia. John moved around searching for that perfect place to call home; he finally found it back in Denton, TX, where he spent the remainder of his life close to the family he loved. John was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Totoro; and his father, Raymond John Totoro, Sr. Additionally, John was preceded by a number of loving aunts and uncles. One of special note was Lola Langhart, of Monroe, LA. Lola always found a special place in her heart for John and showered him with love. John is survived by his brother, James Totoro and wife Laurie, of Oklahoma City; nephews, Austin and Devon; and niece, Adrienne. He took great pride in being their uncle and watching them grow into the wonderful adults that they are today. He is also survived by his best friend of 40 years, Steve Trueblood, of Denton, TX. John, or "Big John" to those that knew and loved him, had a heart of gold and a heart that was bigger than he was. He especially enjoyed traveling with Steve and fishing with the Langharts wherever the fish were biting. John loved to say, "The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad." He had a fantastic sense of humor, and loved laughing with those he loved. As Herbert Hoover once said, "Fishing is a discipline in the equality of men, for all men are equal before fish." With Babs and Gabby at his side, John is now walking with ease to that big fish pond in the sky, god's heavenly beauty all around. Catch the big one for us John. You will be greatly missed, but we know you are in a better place. We love you, always. John's favorite song was "Ava Maria." Please take a moment to listen to it in remembrance of "Big John" and his bigger than life heart. Please also keep the Totoro family and Steve Trueblood in your prayers.

I will miss his kindness. Every time he called his brother's office he would always ask how you were doing and would talk your arm off if you would let him. He was a really nice guy.
