Robert Ernest Klabzuba was born in 1918 in Prague, Okla. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1940 with a degree in petroleum geology. While training for military duty doing "touch and go's" in Pensacola, Fla., he observed geological formations that he thought would be ripe for oil and gas deposits. He pursued this and helped develop a 400,000,000-plus barrel oil field - the last major onshore field in the lower 48 states, the Jay Field. More importantly, Mr. Klabzuba and the Klabzuba Family Foundation have contributed philanthropically to greater Fort Worth charities, his beloved University of Oklahoma, Harris Methodist Hospital, and the Addison Society at TCU and TWU. He was a champion for health and education. Mr. Klabzuba was preceded in death by his six brothers and sisters. Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Doris; children: Judy Klabzuba Park and spouse, Major W. I found two original 1935 high school football team photos with Robert in Prague, Oklahoma. Do his family members have those photos already? I did not know him or the family, but my condolences on your loss. [email protected]

Bob, you will truely be missed. If it was not for your contirbutions to Harris, I am not so sure I would still be here. I remember the day I told you that in the locker room. You were shocked. The fact is, through your contrabutions there is no telling how many lives you have touched. I told you then and I will say it again, thank you Bob and may God bless you.

I'd like to offer my congratulations, instead of condolences, to Bob's family. To have shared such an outstanding life, with such a fine man, was a privilege, indeed. Seeing him at the Fitness Center always brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. A man of such fame and accomplishment, who was so genuine and interested, deserves a long rest into eternity.

Dear Klabzuba Family,

I thank God that I have had you in my life. Mr. Klabzuba and all of you are
so precious to me.

I often told Mr. Klabzuba, that I wished that I had started my working career with him instead of the years before I retired.

No words could ever describe a better person or more Godly person than He was. Every person that ever knew Him, loved Him. He cared for all.

Love to all of you,

Shirley Fojtik

To the Klabzuba Family:

My condolences go out to each and everyone of you. Mr. Klabzuba was a very special man. I only had the privilege of knowing him for a little over six years working with him in the office. I would always look forward to sitting down and talking with him. He would tell me about his traveling days and how he traveled around the world twice, he would tell me stories of his childhood days and it would always amaze me that he could tell it as if it had happened yesterday. I would ask him about the rocks that he had on display in his office and he could tell me everything about those rocks and where he got them. Mr. Klabzuba was truly a remarkable man. If you look up the word genuine in the dictionary, you will find a picture of Mr. Klabzuba beside it. He has touched my heart in so many ways and he has definitely left an impact in my life. I could go on and on about him, but words just don't seem enough. You should take great pride in knowing how many lives he has touched and affected. He will be truly missed and the office isn't the same without him.

To the Klabzuba family,
We are Sooners living in Fort Worth for 15 years. Slowly, over the years while attending OU functions here or going about our business locally, we began to recognize the generosity of Bob and Doris Klabzuba. This includes the Women's BBall practice facility on the OU campus but locally the Harris Methodist projects for breast cancer as well as the family waiting room area in the trauma center. Your parents' understated demeanor while they continued to share their good fortunes did not go unnoticed by those that did not them personally. We thank you and know Mr. Klabzuba left this world a better place. Our sincere sympathy to you all.

To the Klabzuba Family: You are all in our prayers, and know that Bob was such a true gentleman. I remember kidding him about taking his hat off when he spoke with any lady..a tradition that has been lost for a long time..., and that is truly a sign of a Gentleman. He was funny, and Bill loved to hear his stories. A very wonderful person who will be missed by many. You all are in our prayers.

Mr. Klabzuba was a wonderful gentleman and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him over the last 15 years. He was warm, funny, generous, and had lots of interesting stories to tell. He made sure he talked to each employee every day. It didn't matter to him if you were a delivery person or meeting with him for business, he showed the same kindness. He will be greatly missed by all.

The city of Ft Worth and Harris Methodist Hospital FW has lost a very kind, caring and generous man. I work in the building that was dedicated in his name in 1996 and every time he came in the building he asked how I was doing and treated everyone like they were family. Many people have benefited from the Klabzuba Cancer Center on Terrell St and his smile and his "hat" will be greatly missed. May his legacy continue through his children, grand and great grandchildren. God has a wonderful angel watching over Doris, Judy, Janet, Jane, Robert and their family.
