ROBIN LANTZ

1953 - 2016

Oct. 13, 1953 - May 19, 2016 CHOCTAW Robin Daniel Lantz, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Robin was born to Jeaneal Swanson Lantz on October 13, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois. He grew up as the eldest of four and attended Rockford Public Schools. In 1975, he joined the United States Army and married his wife, Gwenda Estes Lantz. They traveled the world with the Army, including his first assignment in Baumholder, Germany. Robin retired from the Army in 1995. At that time, he was located in the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Upon retirement, he and Gwenda opened a bagel shop in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Robin also worked as an Administrator for the Fraternal Order of Moose Lodge, the State of Oklahoma, and lastly, Tinker Air Force Base. Robin's hobbies included fishing, hunting, and watching sports. He was a member of the HOG Group, an Oklahoma State Cowboys fan, and, of course, the OKC Thunder. Robin's biggest passions were his three grandsons, Mason, Logan and Ryan Lantz. He loved taking them fishing and spoiling them with random surprises and gifts. Robin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gwenda Lantz; son, Tom Lantz (Jamie Lantz); grandsons, Mason, Logan, and Ryan Lantz; mother, Jeaneal Lantz; sisters, Colleen Schroder (Jeff Schroder), Cherie Maltz; brother, John Lantz (Teresa Lantz); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Lantz; son, Michael Lantz; and father, Roland Lantz. Graveside services for the family will be held in Rockford, Illinois at Willwood Cemetery on June 11, 2016 at 10 a.m.
