FLORIDA/OKLAHOMA CITY
Ronald Gilcher, MD, of Fort Myers, FL, died on May 7, 2020, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Otto and Evelyn Gilcher May 4, 1938. Dr. Gilcher served as President, CEO and Medical Director of the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) from 1979 to 2006. He was an undisputed international leader in blood transfusion, helping grow OBI into a self-sufficient blood center and national leader in blood safety testing. His momentous contributions will forever leave a mark on OBI and the blood banking industry.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Blood Institute, 1001 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73104.

A Celebration of Life service honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Gilcher will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at 10 o'clock in the morning at Coles Garden, 1415 NE 63rd Street in Oklahoma City. A reception will follow in the veranda at Coles Garden. Masks are requested if you attend the service in person. A video will be available online at mercer-adams.com following the service. Please look for Dr. Gilcher's obituary to find the video link.
