Roy Whistle Obituary

Roy Allen, 85, a member of the Greatest Generation, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006. He was born June 16, 1921, in Dell, AR. He earned a Master's in Education from OU, was a USAF Major, Retired, a veteran of WWII and Korea and a 32nd Degree Mason of the York Rite. He enjoyed working in his yard, traveling, and teaching at FAA and for the Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Eunice. He is survived by his wife of 10 years Gena; 2 sons: Kevin Whistle of OKC, Roy Whistle II & his wife Diana of Seale, AL; stepson: Robert Sisco & wife Helen of Moore; stepdaughter: Sharon Richard & husband Mark of Poteau; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Fred Whistle of Searcy, AR, and Joy Whistle of Syracuse, NY; 2 sisters: June New of Searcy, AR and Jean Beatty of Cape Giradeau; and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Roy Whistle to the Shriner Children's Transportation Fund, 3601 NW 36th, OKC 73112. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2006, at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with interment at Arlington Memory Gardens.

I met Roy last year when I came to work as the secretary for ATSA at FAA. Roy immediately made a special impression on me and I always looked out for him or helped him if he needed it. Roy was a very special man and will be dearly missed. I'm sorry for your loss.
