Sharon Orr Obituary

October 12, 1937 - November 4, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Sharon R. Orr passed away at home on November 4, 2011. Shari was born to Lowell M Goodburn and Lois D. Gregg of Vermillion, SD. Shari was married to Dr. Glenn R. Orr on September 1, 1957 and enjoyed 54 wonderful years together. She is survived by her husband, Glenn, of the home; and her brother, Gary Goodburn of Cushing, IA. She is also survived by her children: Lita Jared and husband Dorian of Gilbert, AZ; Tom and wife Debbie of Oklahoma City; Terry and wife Jessica of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren and 3.2 great-grandchildren. Shari & Glenn worked together side by side in various businesses during their 54 years of marriage. In 2004 they opened Orr Family Farm in south Oklahoma City. Shari would say her greatest work was what she accomplished with her children and her church responsibilities. When her sons were involved with swimming, she served as president of the Moore Aquatic Club. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served as the Primary President and as the President of the Young Women's Organization and other various callings. She and Dad were able to serve for three years as President of the Idaho Pocatello Mission. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and being with her family. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; and a son, Tim. Services will be held Tuesday, November 8th, at 10 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 12915 S. Santa Fe, Oklahoma City, OK. Family will receive friends on Monday, November 7, from 6-8 p.m., at John Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 115 Park Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73102, "In memory of Sharon Orr." Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Orr family. I have so many fond memories of Sharon from the many years I worked for her. She was one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever known. I had a great deal of respect for her. She was such a strong woman of God and her family meant everything to her. All my love to the family.

My prayers and sympathy comes your way to all of Sharon Rae's family. I loved her like a daughter and so thankful for all the good times we had to do genealogy and family history. Sharon Rae was a good person and loved to help people and she has made me proud of her and her brother Gary Love to all from Aunt Elsie in Brookings S.D
