Leatherman Milton
July 9, 1957 - January 2, 2020
Sheryl DeLynn Leatherman Milton, of Edmond, OK, went to heaven on January 2, 2020. She was born to the late Wilbur and Alice Leatherman on July 9, 1957, in Shawnee, OK. Sheryl received her Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University, obtained her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma, and was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She was married to Dennis R. Milton for 36 years.
Sheryl worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 24 years as Family Advocacy Program Manager and later as the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program Manager. Prior to that, she worked at OKDHS for 14 years as a Social Worker in Adoption Services, One Church One Child, and with many other initiatives. Sheryl received numerous awards and recognition for her work in the community with women, families, and children. Sheryl attended Life Church (Broadway and Britton) where she was an active member and served in numerous areas of the church. She was very passionate about adoption: she took great pride in helping children find their forever family. Sheryl had numerous hobbies and interests. She took great pleasure in mentoring children, attending her armor of God Bible study group, working with battered women, and traveling. She enjoyed making jewelry and giving it to family and friends. One of her mottos was, 'you can never have too many pairs of shoes'.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Milton; four daughters, Shermiah Milton-Jones (Emanuel), Keturah Knight (Soddee), DeChelle Anderson (Winston), and Albani Milton-Smith (Johnathan); five grandchildren, Kam'Ron, Mykah, Maniyah, Kolson, and Winston; seven siblings, Ycedra Daughty, Anita Taylor, Tina Leatherman, Wilbur Leatherman Jr., Patricia Wright, Ruth Marie Leatherman, and Ronnie Hale; and a host of family and friends.
Celebration of Life to be held at Life Church, 9001 Broadway Extension Hwy, Oklahoma City, OK 73114, on Friday, January 10, 2020, at 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to the YWCA, located at 2460 NW 39th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73112.

She was my couselor for 4 years and Im so sad I have to let u go . She changed my life , I was a angry, selfish, hormones filled Confused teenager and She too the time to get to know me and she has helped mold me into the man I am today . She was a woman of many talents. It's a shame that we seldom keep in touch with those friends we made in high school. I know she touched many lives in her life and she will be missed by those who knew her and loved her. My condolences to her family.

I met Mrs. Sheryl many years ago at Church of the Harvest, she volunteered in the preschool room, at the time, my sons Ryan and Donquay were in her class and they looked forward to her beautiful smile, bubbly voice and arms stretched out to welcome them to class. Our kids also attended HCS together. I looked forward to seeing her and her girls at the Dillard's New Year sale, this year I did not see her, I messaged her letting her know I missed seeing them! My heart is sad. Sending prays and ((hugs)) to Mr. Dennis and the girls. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
