Stephen Fleet Obituary

Stephen Clark Fleet (October 19, 1951-August 23, 2008), went to fly with the angels and cowboys after a long and very tough fought battle. He was such an amazing and caring husband to Betsy, and father to Stephanie and Andrew. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1969 and then attend OSU. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS in Microbiology and a BS in Zoology in 1975. While he was at OSU, he received his pilots license and became a proud member of the flying Aggie's. He and Betsy were married in May of 1979. He was a man who loved the outdoors, traveling, camping, he especially treasured the campouts with his son and Boy Scout Troop 120, fishing, attending any OSU sporting event, and being with his huge amount of family and friends. He was a man who knew no limits, who always reached for the sky, who would not listen to doubters, who was proud to be an oilfield man, and to have grown up in Oklahoma. All of us have a very powerful angel up in heaven who is wearing cowboy colors and has orange and black wings. He is not truly dead because he has touched so many people, he will live on in us and through our actions. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clark and Mr. and Mrs. Guilliams, his father Robert Van Fleet, his son Robert Clark Fleet, and his father-in-law Thomas Hoey, Sr. He is survived by his wife Betsy, daughter Stephanie, son Andrew, mother Dorothy Kaler, step-father Ralph Kaler, his sister Catherine and Donna and Gregg Ward, and his brother David, mother-in-law Martha Hoey, brother in laws Bill Hoey and wife Becky, Patrick Hoey, Thomas Hoey, Jr. and Sean Hoey and wife Cindy, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to countless family and friends for unending love and support. They would like to express their gratitude to the incredible unwavering support of his business partner Mel Smith and all his employees at EES. Also, special thanks to Dr. Geister and his staff and to his nurse Jackie Tillman. An Evening Prayer Service will be held at Smith and Kernke N. May chapel on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Eugene's Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at 11:00 am.

Warm Summer Sun

Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.
