Violet Stromberg

Violet Vivian Stromberg, born 4-12-1946 in Anchorage, Alaska, passed away at home in Guthrie, Oklahoma, on 8-6-2009. Violet is survived by her husband of 24 years, Arnold Stromberg; her son, Raymond & his wife Melisa Catron of Arkansas; daughter, Cynthia & her husband Ahmed Anouar of Guthrie, OK; stepdaughters: Christy & her husband Jason McWilliams and Shari & her husband Omar Madani of Texas; along with 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Myrlie Miller & husband Ora and family; 3 brothers: Thomas Garrett, Jr. & JoAnn and family, Calvin Garrett & his wife, Robert Ratcliff & wife Sharri and family; and many nieces and nephews. Violet was a member of the Guthrie Free Methodist Church and proud member of the Victorian Violets Red Hatters Society and Guthrie Tops. Violet was very active in many different fundraisers for cancer research: Relay For Life, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and American Cancer Society. She really enjoyed helping raise money, meeting and sharing her story and just giving her support to others going through what she was going through. Violet loved her children, all the grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She liked to be very involved with them in everything they did and tried to help in every way she could. She was tough at times, but most of the time very loving and understanding. She always gave a hug and kisses and stood outside and waved goodbye. No matter how sick she got, this is what she did. Violet, Duchess of Fuzzy, was a shining star at the Victorian Violets. She would enjoy each meeting, event and activity. She enjoyed all the friendships and valued them deeply. Violet retired from the Veterans Administration after 25 years of employment. She loved her work at the V.A. and the people she worked with. She was proud to be a V.A. employee and help soldiers who defended our freedom and country. Memorial service will be at Guthrie Free Methodist Church, 1124 W. Mansur, Guthrie, OK 73044, Sun., 8-16-2009 at 10:30 a.m.
