Barbara Kamer Obituary
La Grange
Barbara Ellen Kamer of La Grange, Ky. passed away peacefully at her home in the company of her family on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024.
Barbara was born on Jan. 10, 1938 to the late Betty and Styles Thompson and married to her beloved late husband, Robert (Bob) A Kamer Sr., for 62 years. She was preceded in death by their daughter; Betty Carol Kamer, and daughter-in-law; Lea Ann Kamer.
A hard worker, she was a retired hair stylist (Barb's Clippers). She had many hobbies and often volunteered her time. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and canning. She was a skilled seamstress and loved quilting, leaving behind many beautiful pieces. She had a passion for birding but loved cardinals the most. She was a big baseball fan and always cheered on the Reds, making many games until late. She often worked crossword puzzles and had a competitive nature, playing games with family and friends. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, member of the Gruetli Helvetia Society (Swiss Ladies Society) and a volunteer with the Agape Thrift Shop of La Grange. She was loved and will be missed by many.
Left behind to treasure her memory is her son; Robert A "Tony" Kamer Jr. (Peggy) of La Grange, daughter; Donna K Brown (Sam) of Louisville, son; Donald L Kamer (Terri Crutcher), grandchildren; Robert A "Trey" Kamer III (Marcia), Megan E Berger (Jason), Wilbur "Bo" J Sanders Jr., Aprille L Locker (Shane) and Brittney Zylstra (John), great grandchildren; Noah Kamer, Emma Berger, Morgan Kamer, and Mira Zylstra, step-grandchildren; Brian Turner (Michelle) and Jennifer Turner, and step-great-grandchildren; Dallas Bell, Addy Turner and Gabe Turner.
Visitation will be at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral home in La Grange on Friday Nov. 15, 2024 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in La Grange, Saturday Nov. 16, 2024 at 11 a.m.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Church or Hosparus Health.
