Donald Thomas Obituary

Donald Thomas was born Oct. 29, 1948, with his twin brother Ronald, to Anna and Joe Thomas in La Grange. They are two of ten children. Donald grew up and went to Oldham County schools. Upon graduating he was offered a job with the school where he worked for 48 years. He never missed a day of work and received many awards from the school board. He loved working with the kids and teachers, and always had a smile on his face. When he was not at school he would be working on his farm some days from sun up to sun down. He enjoyed playing with his animals. Often if you drove by his home you would see him out on his tractor.

Donald joined the church under Rev. Gene Ray Thomas. If his family was not ready when it was time to go he would leave and say, "See you there." He never liked to be late. He worked in the church as an usher where his smile would be the first thing that welcomed you. He also sang with the men's choir.

Those that have gone before him are his mother, Anna L. and father Joe H. Thomas, his twin brother, Ronald and sister, Betsy.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Rose; two daughters, Kristina and Krystle; three sisters, Flora (James) Lewis, Patricia (Bill) Mosby, Kathleen Crush; four brothers, Norman (Emily) Thomas, Elmo (Iris) Thomas, William (Virginia) Thomas and David Thomas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and many, many more.

A Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Dehaven Baptist Church, 301 West Main Street, La Grange. Burial will take place at Eminence Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Oldham County Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Saturday.

I want to extend my condolences to the Thomas family. I had the pleasure of knowing Donald for many years as an employee in the school system. He always had a smile on his face and something positive to say.

Don't think of him as gone away
His journey's just begun
Life holds so many facets
This earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
That we could know today
How nothing but our sadness
Can really pass away.

And think of him as living
In the hearts of those he touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And he was loved so much.
