Goshen
Sue Dabney Covington Clore, of Goshen, Ky. died peacefully on May 16, 2023.
She was born Jan. 10, 1934, at Waco, in Madison County, Ky., the daughter of Walker Dabney and Lillian Frances Kincaid Covington.
Sue was raised on Sixth Avenue in La Grange, Ky., and graduated from La Grange High School in 1952. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College in Richmond, and a Masters Degree in Gifted Education from the University of Louisville.
She was chosen for membership in Phi Delta Kappa, an honorary society for education. She was also honored in Who's Who of America in Education. Her professional career of 28 years was spent as a beloved teacher at Liberty Elementary School in Oldham County, Ky. Countless students will remember her with great affection.
Sue was a member of Peter Foree Chapter of D.A.R, past member of La Grange Literary Club, Oldham County Fair Board and Oldham County Teachers Association.
On Dec. 19, 1954, she was married to Oren B. Clore, Jr., of Goshen, Ky., and she bore them two sons: Oren Brannaman Clore III and Robert Covington Clore. Sue and Oren traveled while he served in the US Army Air Corps, and then settled on the family farm in Goshen, Ky.
She was a member of La Grange Christian Church, a place dear to her heart throughout her life. This is where she met her future husband, made lifelong friendships, was married, raised her children and saw two of her grandchildren baptized. She served there as a teacher, choir member and elder.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents sisters, Betty Jim Covington and Ann C. "Kitty"Shelton; as well as her husband, Oren; son Rob and a grandson, Matthew Flanders.
Survivors include her son, Brann (Kimberly); daughter-in-law Cathy; grandchildren, Hannah Nitzken (Dan), Dabney Clore (Jordan Jakoby), Lydia Clore-Jones (Casey), Rebecca Yocum, Haydon Clore, Mary Clore, Brannaman Clore and John Clore (DeMaris); nieces, Sue Beth Shelton and Fran Shelton; and her lifelong dearest friend, Barbara Long. Sue was also blessed to know and love seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Sue will be held at Harrods Creek Cemetery in Crestwood, Ky. on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. with visitation at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home & Cremation Services in La Grange, Ky. from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. before the graveside service on Friday.
Gifts of acknowledgment may be made to La Grange Christian Church.

Mrs. Clore always had a smile and kind word for everyone. She was also a gifted artist, and I remember fondly her showing me the hollowed egg art she created. I've never seen anything else just like it
