My fondest memory of my Uncle Tom was when he helped me at the last minute to move back home after a year in the dorms at UK. My mom (his sister Shirley) was fighting cancer, and my dad injured himself just days before move-out. I tried to take Tom to lunch at Frisch's in Frankfort on the way home to thank him for stepping in to help, but he insisted on paying for both of us. This act of generosity was not an isolated incident and gives a snapshot of the kind of man he was, and the legacy he leaves--someone who never forgot where he came from, someone who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and someone who was genuinely kind. He truly lived out his faith. Grace, Pam, Tom, and his grandsons should all be proud.
