Andrew Phelan Obituary

ELLICOTTVILLE - Andrew F. Phelan, 81, of Route 219, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 20, 2013) at his home.
He was born Jan. 2, 1932, in Brooklyn, the son of the late John Joseph and Mary Ellen (McGlynn) Phelan.
On Aug. 27, 1955, he married the former Barbara Ann Collins, who survives.
Mr. Phelan was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a 1958 graduate of Niagara University and then a 1962 graduate of the University at Buffalo.
Mr. Phelan worked in the U.S. Justice Dept. under Robert Kennedy and the U.S. Attorney's office in Buffalo. Then he headed the New Jersey Crime Commission and then was vice president of corporate security with American Express. He also was an Attorney of Law in Ellicottville for many years. He was a member of the Ellicottville American Legion.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a son, A. Sean (Patricia) Phelan of Buffalo; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth (Greg) Walls of Williamsville, Catherine Ann Phelan of Amherst and Eileen Phelan of Buffalo; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Hannah, Erin, Barbara Ann, Sarah, Michaela, Meghan and Andrew.
Also surviving are two brothers, John Phelan of Buffalo and Joseph (Audrey) Phelan of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael James Phelan.
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., Little Valley, on Sunday (Feb. 24, 2013) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday (Feb. 25, 2013) at 11 a.m. from Holy Name of Mary RC Church, Ellicottville.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Andrew, a truly kind, compassionate, gentleman. We will miss his presence on Sunday afternoons watching the Bills.
