Calvin E. Benson

BUSTI --- Calvin E. Benson, 74, of Busti, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 at his home. He was born on June 17, 1949 in Gowanda, son of the late Corinth and Velma (Rager) Benson Sr. Calvin was a US Army Veteran having been drafted during the Vietnam War.

He worked for many manufacturing businesses throughout the WNY area as a foreman, specifically Signore's in Ellicottville, a supervisor at American Locker and before his retirement, was a Department Manager at the Wal-Mart in Warren, PA.

Mr. Benson was a lifetime member of the Ellicottville Sportsmen's Club and the Randolph Rod and Gun Club, as well as the Frewsburg American Legion, Lakewood American Legion, Ellicottville American Legion, and Warvets in Jamestown. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and shooting, and was proud to have maintained his land and livestock, especially chicken, pigs, and cows.

Mr. Benson is survived by a son, Timothy (Cassie Reasbeck) Benson of Warren, PA, and three brothers; Corinth Benson Jr. of Little Valley, Clarence "David" Benson of New Albion, and Clifford (Cathy) Benson of Cattaraugus, and two sisters; Vivian Gould of South Dayton, and Jeannette Thalheimer of Cattaraugus. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Logan Benson, and Bailey (Austin) McFadden, a great-grandchild, Thomas James McFadden, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Calvin is predeceased by three sisters; Rebecca Lewis, Jenny Stebbins and Velma Benson.

Friends may call on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 2-5 pm from Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St. in Little Valley.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 5 pm from the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will be in Bath National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
