Donnes J. Baker

WELLSBORO, Pa. - Donnes J. Baker, 92, formerly of Rixford, passed away at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, on Wednesday (Jan. 24, 2018).

She was born on Oct. 1, 1925, in Waynesburg, daughter of Raymond and Bertha Wright. Donnes was wife of Donald F. Baker, who died on May 10, 2015. They were married for 70 years.

She graduated from Otto High School in Duke Center in 1944.

She was a member of Sawyer Evangelical Church, Bradford, and in recent years attended the United Methodist Church in Wellsboro.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, sewing and needlepoint. Family and friends will cherish her handcrafted gifts from over the years.

She was a homemaker and wonderful mother to daughters, Ila (Eugene) Felt of Salamanca, N.Y., and Dr. Donna (Kenneth) Mettler of Middlebury Center. She was a loving grandmother of Angela (Mark) Ellis of Geneseo, N.Y., Steven (Kellie) Felt of Hamilton, Ga., and Michael (Deborah) Mettler of Birdsboro; and great-grandmother of Timothy and Jeffrey Ellis, Alexandra and Dylan Felt, and Tricia and Joshua Engle. She is also survived by two brothers, Gordon (Vera) Wright and Bob Wright of Moundsville, W.V.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 27, 2018) at Sawyer Evangelical Church. Her funeral will follow at 1 p.m., officiated by Rev. Brad Preston.
