Florence 'Topper' Tripodi
OLEAN - Florence Beverley "Topper" Steudler Tripodi, 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday (Sept. 16, 2025) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Buffalo, surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 7, 1936, in Rolfe, Pa., to the late Florence Smith and George Edward Steudler, Topper was their fifth child. On Nov. 28, 1953, she married Stephen Anthony Tripodi, and together they built a life and raised their children.
Topper was a beloved wife, a nurturing mother and grandmother, and a cherished friend, known and loved for her quiet strength and warm heart. Her family could always depend on her steady wisdom and gentle guidance.
A determined and curious learner, she exemplified resilience. While raising her children, Topper proudly completed her high school education and went on to become a licensed practical nurse, a choice that suited her compassionate nature.
Beyond her family devotions, Topper cultivated a rich life of personal interests. She possessed a creative soul and a competitive spirit, which she channeled into her many passions. She was an accomplished golfer, a strategic bridge player and she enjoyed experimenting with multiple art mediums, including the piano. Her meticulous research into the family's genealogy was a final, lasting gift, connecting her family's past with its future.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and lifelong learning.
Florence is survived by seven children, Marie Grandinetti of Pennsylvania, Beth (Thomas) DaPolito of Colorado, Susanne Tripodi of New Mexico, Stephen (Georgine) Tripodi of New York, Francis Tripodi of New York, Colette Forrest (Gary Berger) of New York and Lisa (Howard) Allen of New York; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Joan) Steudler of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
