Frances Palumbo Obituary
OLEAN --- Frances Grace Marie Palumbo, 93, of Olean, passed away Sunday (January 19, 2025) at the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born November 25, 1931 in Olean, she was the daughter of Raffaele and Rose D'Attilo Palumbo.
Frances was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1949, and achieved a registered nursing degree in 1952 at the State University of NY at Buffalo through the Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing.
She began working as a nurse for the Higgins Memorial/Olean General Hospital from 1952 to 1956, then as an industrial nurse for American Olean Tile until 1958. She returned to Olean General until 1960 after which she began a long nursing career for Cutco Cutlery from 1960 until her retirement in 1993.
Frances was a lifelong resident of Olean and a lifetime parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church. She always enjoyed her home and independence, as well as her circle of friends that she was engaged with well past the age of 90.
She leaves behind seven nieces and nephews, Daniel (Mary Lou) Palumbo, Kathleen (Stephen) Pachla, Suzanne Palumbo, Thomas (Judy) Palumbo, James "Jason" (Mary Ann) Palumbo, Mary E. Palumbo, all of Olean, and Ann (John) Buyea of Rochester; 12 great nieces and nephews, and 19 great-great nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, John (Betty) Palumbo and a sister and brother-in-law Anna (Charles) Geary.
The family welcomes friends to a memorial Mass to be held Monday (January 27, 2025) at 1pm at St. John's Church, 931 N. Union St., Olean. Father Christopher Emminger will be the celebrant. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church, 202 South Union St., Olean, NY 14760, or to The Warming House, C/O St. Bonaventure University, PO Box AR, St. Bonaventure, NY 14778.
Arrangements are with the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.

Sorry to hear of Fran´s passing
She was an inspiration to me to become an RN of which I accomplished from the university of Mount Saint Vincent in Bronx, NY from Sisters of Charity
Fran was a charming , compassionate and truely a wonderful lady
