Fred R. Lafferty Jr. Obituary

FRANKLINVILLE - Fred R. Lafferty Jr., of Franklinville and formerly of Rushford Road, died Monday (Nov. 10, 2014) at Snyder Memorial Health Care Center, Marienville, Pa.

Born Oct. 23, 1933, in Rushford, he was the son of Fred and Mary Cooper Lafferty Sr. On July 3, 1954, in Rushford, he married Genevieve Lang, who died Aug. 27, 1994.

Mr. Lafferty was a graduate of Rushford High School and was regional manager for Reynolds Home Improvement Co., Buffalo, for many years.

Baseball was a big part of his life. He played on the Frankees town baseball team for many years and was selected to the Buffalo News Baseball Hall of Fame. Fred was going to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates until an automobile accident ended his career. He was also an Eagle Scout.

Surviving are two sons, Carl Lafferty of Franklinville and Bradley (Donna) Lafferty of North Huntingdon, Pa.; four granddaughters, Kelsey, Kaitlin, Kristie and Kelly Lafferty; three brothers, Gordon Lafferty of Arcade, Theodore Lafferty of Olean and Gerald Lafferty of Maryland; several nieces and nephews; and loving companion Marilyn Bednarski of Houghton. He was predeceased by two sisters, Bonalyn Fisher and June Sustick.

Friends may gather with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (Nov. 14, 2014) at Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville, where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 15, 2014), with the Rev. Kevin Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Mount Prospect Cemetery, Franklinville.

Memorials may be made to the Blount Library, 5 N. Main St., Franklinville, NY 14737.
