James Vroman Obituary

GREAT VALLEY - James E. Vroman, 72, of Great Valley, died Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2025) at Olean General Hospital, following a short illness.

Born Sept. 6, 1952, in Galveston, Texas, he was the son of the late James Sr. and Marie Boucher Vroman. He was married in Scio in 1982 to the former Connie Blakeslee, who survives.

He was a graduate of Scio High School, Class of 1970, later earning his associate's degree from JCC in Olean.

James had been employed as a machinist with Bush Industries, Little Valley, for over 18 years, retiring in 2008.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered for passing on many life skills. He also enjoyed music and was a percussionist in the local band, Friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and loved traveling and going on cruises with his wife.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Jennifer (Shawn) Foust of West Virginia and April Zelinski of Jamestown; two sons, Nathan (Megdalena Krahel) Vroman of Belmont and Thomas of Wellsville; five grandchildren; a sister, Mary Davis of Stannards; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Tina Kline.

There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.
