James Zeigler Obituary
OLEAN - James C. "Spike" Zeigler, of 317 Genesee St., Olean, passed away Saturday (Oct. 16, 2021) at Olean General Hospital.
Born July 11, 1953, in Phillipsburg, Pa., he was the son of Howard and Elma Hugar Zeigler. On Nov. 9, 1974, in Portville, he married Cheryl A. Ruggles, who survives.
Spike was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1971-1975.
He worked for B & O Railroad in Salamanca and for Conrail Railroad in Olean.
In his free time, Spike enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting and woodworking. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mom, Elma Morris of Clearfield, Pa.; three children, John (Gina) Zeigler of Portville, Jared (Lori) Zeigler of Olean and Jenna (Trevor) Wagner of Rochester; 12 grandchildren, Courtney Ugalde, Justus Zeigler, Samuel Zeigler, Jake Zeigler, Logan Zeigler, Ella Zeigler, Levi Wagner, Eli Wanger, Liberty Zeigler, Addison Zeigler, Lydia Wagner, and Tristyn Zeigler; five siblings, Robin (Terry) Forest, Denny (Renee) Zeigler, Judy Zeigler, Bradley (Christine) Zeigler and Lori Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, James M. Zeigler.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 20, 2021) at Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. Private graveside services will be held in Allegany Cemetery, Allegany.
