Lawrence Sassani Obituary

MURRYSVILLE, Pa. - Lawrence P. Sassani passed away peacefully Thursday (Feb. 19, 2015) in Murrysville after an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 16, 1938, in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, and graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1955.

In addition to his parents, Arthur and Catherine Waiwada Sassani, Lawrence was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Lukens Sassani; an infant son, Peter; and a grandson, Noah Sassani.

Lawrence honorably served his country in the U.S. Army in the late 1950s, stationed in Alaska.

Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Conrail and Norfolk Southern. In his younger days, Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing pinochle with his family.

Lawrence is survived by his six children, Lawrence P. (Martina) Sassani of Murrysville, Virginia Sassani of Kulpmont, Maria (Richard Kunkle) Sassani of Pittsburgh, Carla (Leonard) DelVecchio of Boalsburg, Luke (Rachel) Sassani of Lower Burrell and Samuel (Jennifer) Sassani of Zionsville; seven grandchildren; and six brothers and two sisters.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. March 30, 2015, at Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date.
