Michael Bysiek

1931 - 2013

OLEAN - Michael Bysiek, of Griffin Street, passed away peacefully Saturday (March 2, 2013) at his home.
Born Feb. 25, 1931, in Olean, he was a son of the late John and Stephania Turek Bysiek. One June 20, 1953, at St. John's Church, he married the former Laura Carnicelli, who predeceased him Jan. 20, 2008.
Mike was employed at Dresser-Rand for 41 years, retiring on March 31, 1993, and was a member of the Local 4601 Dresser Steelworkers Retiree Association.
He was a member of Transfiguration Church, the Pulaski Club and St. Bonaventure golf course.
Mike enjoyed extensive traveling with his family, visiting most of the United States and more than 30 countries. He also enjoyed family time, gardening, golf, hunting, fishing, carpentry and walking in the woods with his dogs. He liked to be busy and could build or fix nearly anything.
Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine (Larry) Diggs of Jamestown and Jean (Mike) Gonska of Olean; one sister, Helen (Donald) Lewicki of Olean; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Loretta Bysiek of Olean.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Bernard and Edward Bysiek; and a sister-in-law, Isabelle Bysiek.
Family will receive friends for visitation Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday (March 5, 2013) in St. John's Church. Father Edward Sheedy, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
