Rex Clouston Obituary
MEDINA, Ohio - Rex Clouston, recently of Medina, went to meet his Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Aug. 8, 1936, to George and Margaret Murison Clouston, Rex spent most of his formative years in Arcade, N.Y.
He attended one year at Houghton (N.Y.) College then entered the U.S. Army, spending three years at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md. and Ft. Dix, N.J., being discharged with rank of sergeant.
Rex married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Davies, and moved to Indiana where he attended Taylor University in Upland.
The family moved to Warsaw, N.Y., where he taught history and coached soccer, basketball and baseball. He was was involved in American Red Cross, Gideon's International and his church.
He taught ninth grade social studies at Arcade Central, becoming Pioneer Central, teaching the next 20-plus years. He was assistant coach for the track team, advisor for Purposeful Life Club, taught children how to swim and Red Cross lifesaving.
Rex was the president of Odosagih Bible Conference, a board member at Circle C Ranch and sang with the Ambassador Quartet from the Yorkshire Free Methodist Church.
Rex loved his Savior and was called upon to be a lay-preacher to many a church in Western New York. He was a founding member of Central Baptist Church in Yorkshire before moving to Vero Beach, Fla. where he and Marge lived for 20-plus years. He recently moved to Medina to be closer to family.
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Marjorie; three daughters, Terri (Michael) Batt of Portville, N.Y., Carole Goeas of Alexandria, Va. and Karen (Jon) Kastelein of Medina; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-love; and many nieces and nephews.
Rex is preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Esme and Fay Howlett; and his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kastelein.
There will be a celebration of life at a date chosen by the family. Inurnment will be at Freedom Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Circle C Ranch, Delevan, N.Y.; and Odosagih Bible Conference, Machias, N.Y.
