ALLEGANY - Shirley Ann Harvey, 87, of 11 Sunburst Lane, and recently of Absolut Care of Allegany nursing home, passed away Monday (March 3, 2025) at Absolut Care of Allegany.

Shirley was born Aug. 25, 1937, in Morris, Pa., and was the daughter of John and Marie Jovenelle Renish.

Shirley spent her childhood in Bradford, Pa., and graduated from Saint Bernard High School in 1955.

Shirley worked as a secretary at Speer Resister and then at Clark Brothers as a system analyst. She later became a make-up artist and worked at AM&A's/Bon-Ton after returning from Florida in 2006.

Shirley married her true love, Jerry, in 1966 and traveled with him extensively after relocating to Chicago in 1970.

Shirley traveled to over 19 countries during her 59 years of marriage. She traveled to Guam, Bali, Japan and 16 other countries, as well as living in Dubai, UAE for four years. Upon Jerry's retirement, they relocated to The Villages, Fla., returning to the Allegany area in 2006.

Shirley was an avid bowler and golfer in Dubai, Olean and The Villages. She was also an active snowmobile enthusiast in Chicago and Olean, driving her Arctic Cat and Ski-doo snowmobiles.

Shirley had twin daughters, Joni and Julie; and one son, Steve.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Gary) Hendryx; son, Steve (Kristi) Baxter; and two grandchildren, Jen (Tony) Capito and Nicole (Brandon Derx) Van Sky. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Brooke Capito, Darryn Capito and Ellie Derx; two stepchildren, Mark (Nedra) Harvey and Kim (Charles) Pellock; six step-grandchildren, Matt Moore, Nick Pellock, Samantha Pellock, Joseph (Allie) Harvey, Brian (Caitlin) Harvey and Ashley (Nat) Mettawiparee; and four step-great-grandchildren, Abby, Odin, Bella and Emmi.

Shirley was predeceased by her mother; father; daughter, Joni; and beloved Shi-tzu, Sophie.

The family would like to acknowledge the care and kindness of the Absolut staff - Jessica, Jill, Buffy, Joe, Mary, Phae (Mom), Nicole, Brandy, Halle, Sonya, Kathleen, Alaura, Chelsey, Eldeen, Penny, Beth, John, Johnna, Tracy, Jesse, Maddie, Darla, Violet, Cindy, Telisha, Sarah, Shana, Juliana, Hailey, Jim and finally Will.

There will be no services at this time. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to the SPCA of Cattaraugus County, at 2944 Route 16, Olean, NY 14760; or to Absolut Care of Allegany, at 2178 N. Fifth St., Allegany, NY 14706.
