Shirley Peters Obituary
HINSDALE - Shirley A. Peters, of 3769 Main St., formerly of Olean, passed away Wednesday (April 20, 2022) at the Absolut Care of Salamanca, following an illness.
Shirley was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Franklinville, and was the daughter of Raymond and Gertrude Caner Sweet. She married the love of her life, Donald J. Peters, who predeceased her Oct. 2, 2011.
Shirley was a graduate of Randolph High School. She worked at the Olean Times Herald before moving to Alaska, where she worked at a hospital. Shirley returned to the Olean area in 1997.
Shirley is survived by three sons, Donald J. (Stacey) Peters Jr. of Hinsdale, Kevin M. Peters of Cicero and Rich (Laura) Freer of Portville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Robert W. (Patricia) Sweet of Friendship and Bonnie King of Elma.
Along with her husband, Donald, and her parents, Shirley was predeceased by six siblings, Charles "Gene" Sweet, Helen Marble, Maxine Cagwin, Paul Sweet, Glenna Couch and Margaret Stearns.
Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday (April 23, 2022) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
