Stanley Mikolajczyk Obituary
Born Oct. 9, 1938, in Olean, he was the son of Stanley J. and Catherine Ruby Mikolajczyk.
Stanley was a graduate of Olean High School.
After graduating, he went to work for the former Worthmore Feeds Co. in Olean for a number of years, and then he worked for Associated Transport in Olean, until his retirement.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union and a past member of Transfiguration Church in Olean.
He enjoyed collecting antiques in his free time.
Surviving is one son, Scott (Micha Stein-Verbit) Mikolajczyk of McLean, Va.; one grandson, Eliott Brooks Stein of McLean; four sisters, Paula Givan of Olean, Susan Mikolajczyk of Olean, Sally (John) Kolasinski of Hinsdale and Donna Mikolajczyk of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Carol Theodore, Sharon Graves and David Mikolajczyk.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (July 12, 2018) at the Basilica at St. Mary of the Angels. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

I met Stanley about 5 years ago, as he was walking along Fall Road. He kindly directed me to my great-grandparents' old house on Avenue B, which I was searching for. He also put me in touch with his sister, Susan.
I had not seen him since that day, but feel like I knew him. Our families are related by marriage, way back. And anyone who liked old radio programs, biographies and midget Milky Way bars had to be related to me.
I am sorry that "that Judi girl" did not get to see him again. My sincerest condolences to Susan and the rest of his family. I admired his strength in the midst of physical adversity and the courage that drove him to just keep walking.
