Tricia Sledge Obituary

Tricia L. Sledge

ROCHESTER --- Tricia L. Sledge, 51, transitioned unexpectedly from this life to eternal life on Sunday (July 4, 2021) in Dayton, OH.

She was born May 28, 1970 to the late George Sledge, Sr. and Barbara Sledge, both of Allegany.

Tricia graduated from Allegany Central School. There she participated in extra curricular activities including 3 years of track, gymnastics, and as an Allegany Blue Devil cheerleader. She also participated in the Incognito Color Guard for 4 years. While in high school she attended BOCES where she learned culinary arts.

After graduation she relocated to Rochester. There, she became a youth coach for St. Monica's School (NCYO) and St. Margaret Mary School community basketball teams. Later she became a youth coach for the Irondequoit Vikings cheerleading team. It was also in Rochester that she re-dedicated her life back to the Lord under the care of Pastor Ruben Hans, Higher Ground (C.O.G.O.P.).

Tricia worked as a cafeteria aide and as an assistant teacher's aide at the Irondequoit Brookview Elementary School. She was also employed by the Mary Cariola Children Center in Rochester and respite. She loved working with children with special needs. She also became a foster parent. In her spare time, she was a caregiver to the senior community.

She later adopted a brother and sister and also met the love of her life, Timothy Montroy with whom she had two daughters. Anyone who knew her could tell that she enjoyed being a Mom. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, going to sports events, the movies, eating out, camping, playing cards (especially Spades), and going to church. She had a sense of humor, a very large laugh, and along with that a bright smile that made her a pleasure to be around.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and dedicated fiancé Timothy Montroy; 3 daughters Shirley Watts-Sledge, Tenasia Montroy and Rihanna Montroy; 1 son Shyheim Watts-Sledge; 2 grandchildren Malcome and Amara, all of Rochester; 2 brothers Quintin Sledge of Virginia and Nathan Sledge of Olean and 5 sisters Michaele (Marvin) Washington of Atlanta, GA, D'Yvonne (Terrence) Duncan of Rochester/KY, Elizabeth (Michael) Sledge-Sheppard of Niagara Falls, Kristen (Louanne) Sledge-Whitcomb of Salamanca and Jaleessa (Anna) Ard-Sledge of Olean. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family including the Montroy and St. Denny families, and friends, especially her BFF, Mel.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by 1 brother George "JJ" Sledge, Jr.

The family welcomes friends to attend a visitation on Friday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday (July 17, 2021) from 11am until noon. A funeral service will begin at noon. Bishop Marion Richey of Buffalo will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.

Tim, Tenasia, and Rhiana, I am SO sorry; I've just today heard of Tricia's passing. Tricia was an amazing woman, mother, and friend. Thanks to Tenasia and Aubrianna's friendship, I was blessed to have Tricia as my friend. She was always ready and willing to help out in a pinch and was the first to text me well-wishes on every holiday. Our last text was in May about how proud we are of the amazing young women our girls have become! I will miss hearing from her. She was a true-blue friend who always made sure we stayed connected. Your family will always be in my thoughts and in my heart. Rest in peace, my friend.

Tricia was my mom´s best friend and like a second mother as I was growing up. She was always there when her or my mom needed anything and I will always thank her for that. We will miss her very much.

Tricia Sledge is the best person I ever knew. She would take the clothes off her back to help a stranger. She would give her last dollar to a person who needed it more than her. I always will aspire to be as kind and generous as my best friend and sister, Tricia Sledge. She suffered too much on earth physically, it was time for her to rest in heaven and be her family´s guardian angel. Rest in Peace my SWEET DEAREST Tricia. My heart aches, I am sad and alone without you. I´m glad Papa Dios gave me you, as a best friend and a role model. I will love you always.
God Bless. Love, mel
