Janet and Sue,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. It was not that long ago I spoke with you, Janet, about the passing of my father. I had no idea it would be so soon after you would loose your mother. I have many fond memories of going to your house and how much fun we had with your mom.
Memories like these will keep her close in our hearts. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I did not have Mrs. Bloomstrand for a 6th grade teacher, but she still was a big influence on my life. She was strict but very caring. I am sure she got a chuckle out of seeing 3 girls hiding out in the bathroom at Avery Elementary to avoid going out in the cold Nebraska weaather in dresses. I am a teacher now, and everytime I catch someone playing in the bathroom, it reminds me of her face when she saw us swinging from the partitions during recess time instead of being outside. I could see a twinkle in her eye as she scolded us. Our punishment was to go outside and play. She was really a softie.

Mrs. Bloomstrand was my 6th-grade teacher at Avery Elementary (1961-62) - certainly my most memorable teacher and also my favorite! She was the first teacher that I realized was a real person, and not just a classroom fixture that magically appeared the next day for my personal education - what a concept! She certainly was a real person, and she will be missed by many many people who were fortunate to have been in one of her classes. Please accept my sincere sympathy on your loss.

I will never forget 6th grade. Mrs. Bloomstrand gave me a lot of support when I came back to school after being in the hospital with the diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. She was also a GREAT TEACHER and I will never forget her. My sympathies to her family.
