It has been one week tonight since Barb left us and I'm still trying to find the right words to say. Having worked with Barb for the past 7 years, I had the opportunity to get to know her spirit, drive, and determination. Whether I was training in the first department we worked in together or working side-by-side with her as my immediate boss in SI, one thing was clear: Barb was all about empowerment and making BU a better place for students. Her commitment to quality and hard work will never go unnoticed and will not be forgotten. We have alot to live up to with her vision in mind and I know that we'll succeed as long as she is looking down and stays with us in our hearts.
Rest peacefully Barb, and watch over Jaime, Rachael, Carlos, Anna, your parents, brother and family as they share happy memories of you that will keep you alive forever in their hearts. I wish I could hear your big laugh once more...that is something I won't soon forget. It will be quiet in your corner for along time but we'll hit the buzzer and the gong and blow the whistles and think of you each and every time - how could we not. Your enthusiasm was contagious and I want to thank you for all of the confidence you instilled in me.
You beamed when you spoke of your family and I want you to know we're here to help them through this rough time. Reminders of you continue each and every day, and I think that will last for along time to come.

I had the pleasure of meeting "Barb" in ninth grade at Logan Jr. High. For some reason, she thought I was funny, and I always made her laugh. I will never forget her smile, upbeat and positive personality, and the fun we had keeping in touch and reconnecting long after we'd graduated from high school. It was both a joy and an honor to have known her. My heart and prayers go out to her entire family. May God bless you and comfort you all during this difficult time.

To Barb's family,
We were truly blessed with such a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and for so many of us...a great friend. I will forever be greatful to have had Barb in my life. She was not only a great co-worker, but was a great friend. Barb and I have worked together for over 20 years. It was only within the last year or so that Barb and I began getting really close. I feel so sad that I have lost a peer, a confidant, but most of all a friend. Jaime and Rachel, I can only imagine what your loss feels like and the pain you are going through. I can only say, treasure every moment you had, hold every memory close to your heart, and the love you have for this wonderful person will help you through this tragic time. I will so miss Barb. It just won't be the same walking into meetings where she should be. May you find comfort knowing she touched so many lives and one more time, Barb reminded us how important that every day, we need to show those we love how important they are in our life and not take any second we have on this earth for granted.
My heart goes out to you,
Cathey

Our hearts are filled with sadness at the loss of our good friend and colleague. Words can’t express the grief we are feeling, and going forward will be painful. However, the memory of Barb’s enthusiasm, caring spirit, and deep involvement with those around her help to serve as comfort. Jamie, please know that you and Rachael are in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you and may His perpetual light shine on your family forever.

To Barb's family-
I think we all are heartbroken over the loss of Barb. She was such a wonderful person, great friend, and fantastic boss. I loved going to work with her each day, and this was the first job I could say that about. I learned so much from Barb and am so sad that she won't be around to teach me so much more. She is the type of person that I would love to be. And she loved all of you so very much. She was always sharing stories about her kids and Jaime and other extended family members. I loved that she brought you all into the workplace with her.
We feel your pain and are feeling it too. There is an empty place in our hearts right now. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers constantly. And we are here for you if you need anything at all.

Jamie, Rachel, Anna and Carlos,
I am so terribly sorry for your loss. We all loved Barb, as a friend and mentor. She will be greatly missed. Her whole "SI Family" is in shock and are very saddened by the loss of their "fearless leader". She was a very strong woman and I think that everyone in the team benefitted from knowing and learning from her.

I will never know another person like Barb. She was one in a billion and I know that so many people adored her. I, like everyone am feeling extreme sorrow and shock. I loved her positve fun -loving attitude about everything. Her laugh and big blue eyes and sense of humor along with her unbelievable intelligence amazed me. She never judged. I will miss her too much. I have so many memories of Barb that will stay with me forever. I know how much her family loved her and I hope that they will feel some sort of comfort soon. I know that it is so hard right now but we Will all be together again someday. God Bless Barb and please help us all to understand this tragedy.

Words can not express what I am feeling right now! Barb & I have been friends since Jr High. I will always remember her incredible sense of humor, her contagious laugh, and her loyal friendship. We have shared so many wonderful times together, from our KC concert trips to spending hours on the phone laughing over absolutely nothing at all. I will always be honored that Barb & Jaime included me on their very special wedding day! I have been extremely lucky and blessed to have Barb in my life for the past 27+ years and consider her a very special gift from God! Jaime, our thoughts and prayers are with you, the kids, your families and all of the people who's life have been touched by Barb at this difficult time! Barb was truly an amazing person and friend! You will be missed, Barb!!

As a child in the 70’s I was taught the song make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold.
In the summer of 1980 Barb became one of my golden friends. In that summer we met for the first time, we each had our first dates that summer, and we saw Journey, our first concert together. While I do not remember much about the concert I do remember how much we giggled when her dad asked us about the male female ratio at such an event!
I remember hanging out in her basement and playing bumper pool for the first time. Together we flirted for the first time as we made wagers over the outcome of the game with the boys in our summer gang.
That fall we went to high school for the first time together.
Those three years of high school were very happy years and Barb’s friendship played a large part in that happiness. You only need to look at a yearbook to see how much fun we all had. I wish that everyone could have a Barb to get through high school with.
As life often does after graduation we were not able to stay as close, her path led her to college while mine led to an early marriage and children. But every time we ran into each other we met with smiles and good memories. I will always cherish that golden summer and my golden friendship with Barb.
Sending Prayers to Jaime, her daughter, her parents and to all who knew her,

I worked for Barb in the SI Dept. at Bellevue University. I came to SI broken and desperate, with little confidence. Barb always encouraged me and always made sure I knew that she appreciated the job I was doing. She always went to bat for all of us in SI. Fighting to get us more money...and she did! She lead the SI Department to record enrollments and revenue, all while creating a supportive team of strong women, unlike anything I've ever seen.
Barb's passing is difficult to wrap one's mind around, but there is one thing for which I am certain, the world has lost a wonderful person, wife, mother, daughter, friend, employee and boss. They say that people come and go, in and out of our lives for a reason. I have no doubt that Barb entered my life at a time when I needed strength and confidence. Barb, thank you for everything you did for me. I'm blessed that our paths crossed and I am a better person having known you. You will be truly missed and always remembered.
