David Beavers Obituary

David A. Beavers

February 8, 1957 - May 18, 2025

David Allan Beavers, Lt. Col. (Ret), USAF, passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 68. He was born on February 8, 1957, in Omaha, Neb., to Dennis and Joy Beavers. Dave grew up in Omaha and graduated with the Westside High School Class of 1975.

A lifelong learner, Dave pursued higher education with passion, attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Creighton University, and several other institutions. He earned multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Nursing, and Master's degrees in Human Resource Management and Computer Information Management, along with numerous military educational achievements.

In 1985, Dave married Carol Sutherland. Together they shared 40 years of marriage filled with love, resilience, and adventure. They had three children and later became proud grandparents, a role Dave cherished deeply.

In 1987, Dave joined the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps, beginning a distinguished military career as an operating room nurse and flight nurse, that took him across the United States and around the world, including assignments in Turkey and Hawaii. He served with honor during the Gulf War era and eventually retired in San Antonio, Texas. After his military service, Dave continued to serve others through his work in healthcare. In 2021, Dave and Carol fully retired and moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to be closer to family.

Dave had many passions. He was a Master Mason and a proud member of the American Legion. He loved skiing, running, and spending time with friends and family, whether on the slopes or under the Hawaiian sun. A devoted Nebraska Cornhusker fan, he cheered for his team with pride. He also had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs, who were loyal companions throughout his life.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Beavers. He is survived by his father, Dennis; and stepmother, Jeanné Beavers; his beloved wife, Carol; children, Deana (Mike) Fair, Brian (Amanda) Beavers, and Aaron (Alexis Flores) Beavers; siblings, Denise Zoglmann, Dana (Josh) Bartee, and Daniel (Becky) Beavers; and granddaughters, Alexia, Chloe, Brooke, and Aubrey. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and fellow service members who will miss his wisdom, humor, and generous spirit.

A burial with full military honors took place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on June 30, 2025. Donations can be made to PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org" target="_new" rel="nofollow">PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org or ASPCA.
