David Lemoine Obituary

Lemoine, David M.

David M. Lemoine, 69, of Syracuse, Nebraska, died on December 28, 2020, surrounded by his family, after a fierce battle with Covid-19.

David was born on February 1, 1951, in Cottonport, Louisiana, the son of Clyston and Rosemary Lemoine. He married Carla Thevenot, the love of his life, in 1975. In 1987, the family moved to Houston, where David began his illustrious career as a Special Agent with the FBI. His efforts over the next 10 years resulted in some of the largest drug seizures in history and helped to bring down numerous drug cartel leaders. Always up for an adventure, he moved his family to Montana in 1998, where he fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and made a home in Red Lodge. His career in Montana focused on putting an end to human trafficking. He was instrumental in passing legislation in both Montana and Nebraska to increase penalties for sex trafficking.

He retired in 2005, after 20 years of service to the Federal government, but not being a man to sit idle, he found his way to Afghanistan. At the age of 57, he went to work as a human intelligence specialist for the state department, patrolling with the men of his platoon with a smile on his face, in some of the harshest terrain imaginable. Upon his return home, he spent the last decade of his life advocating for Afghan combat interpreters to be given sanctuary visas and a safe home in America.

David never met a stranger. He befriended anyone he met, from any background and any walk of life. He loved his wife, kids, and grandkids more than anything in this world. David impacted the lives of people all over the world, and his loss will be felt deeply by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

David is survived by his wife Carla, his 5 children and spouses, Rachael Lemoine, Catherine and Aaron Luth, Leah and Trent Noyes, Laura Lemoine and fiancé Joshua Baumann, and Joseph Lemoine; 8 grandchildren, Vivienne, Margot, Charles, Simon, and Vincent Luth, and Reagan, Max, and Maggie Noyes; siblings and spouses, Roseanne Juneau, Ethel and Ben Juneau, Liz Shoemaker, Tina Lemoine, Martha Lemoine, and Peter and Peggy Lemoine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyston and Rosemary Lemoine, and his sister Marilyn Bordelon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to a fund established to assist interpreters and their families coming to the United States after service to the U.S. military. https://gofund.me/4bcd818f

Never met the man, but saw the 48 Hours story about Megan Parra & how David assisted with the case. I HAD to look him up, because Men of his caliber are rare gems and I enjoy learning about all they did. God Bless him and his whole family. Know that he's watching you all from above everyday. His spirit cannot die!

A great, giving, fun man. I graduated the FBI Academy with Dave who would chide me on my shooting abilities. "Hey, we French Canadians," he said. "We don't have the patience to be good shooters." Only he was. RIP SA Lemoine, and thank you for you service to mankind.

Carla, I'm so sorry for your loss.
I didn't know David very well in high school nor later, but I do recall your beauty and athleticism, and, of course, many of your siblings as well as Lenny L.
Recently, your mom was thoughtful and kind at the passing of my mom, Marice Frederick, in October. May you be consoled by all of the universe. Warmly,

I never met David, but we talked since he knew my namesake and Grandfather K.D. Reeves. I took a likeness to him right away. He let me know about K.D., the rancher in a way I would never know as a calf roper. Many Thanks to God bringing such a wonderful person into our world to make it better bringing his exemplary character and his love of life to the fullest to share with all of us.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Grief is pervasive - it seeps into every part of our lives. Its appearance is not a surprise - the surprise is the timing of its arrival.

Words can’t express how much I will miss this fellow. He always had something smart to say but he had to laugh when I came back on him with something smarter than what he had.... a true mellower but I loved him dearly, which he knew. Lemoine, I will always cherish the memories and laughter we had as coworkers. My prayers and love will continue covering the family. Rest In Peace my friend.

Worked with Dave in Montana as a federal prosecutor, what a character. Prayers and warm feelings are extended to his family. The appropriate space is not available here to share exploits and stories of the world of Dave. God bless. Jim Seykora
