I always enjoyed speaking with Doug. I knew him as a very kind and loving man. He taught a Sunday School class at the Omaha Citadel Corps for several years and was very faithful to that responsibility. Doug volunteered in many other ways and was always extremely helpful.
He has his own biological grand-children, but he was also seen as a "grand-pa" figure to many other young people around the church.
I remember coming out to his house for a fireworks show once and it was a show to remember! He had this giant piece of plywood and launched a considerable amount of explosives off to the joy of all those present.
I'm glad to have some memories of Doug and to have had the chance to know him over the years.
