To the Witt Family,
I am sad to hear of Gene's passing. I have so many memories of our families getting together in my younger years. My favorite story of Gene is when we all went to a Husker game back in the 60's and Doug, Dan and I sat in different seating from the adults. Gene gave us specific orders to meet back at the car at a specified time or they'd head back to Omaha without us. The three of us were probably Jr. High School age. Dan and I showed up, but Doug got delayed and guess what happened? Gene always had my undivided attention after that!
One day while in college, the subject of luck came into the conversation. Gene was the first to tell me the definition of luck, and he was a living example of preparation meeting opportunity.
My deepest condolences to all of you. Gene will go down in my book
as a very fun-loving, giving person who thoroughly enjoyed his life, friends and family. (Not to mention our common appreciation of sports cars.)
Although the years have spread us apart, I'll always look back with fond memories of my many great times with the entire Witt family.
