Omaha. Survived by wife, Alice, Omaha; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda, Larry and Mary, all Bellevue, NE; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tom Hamilton, Linda and Randy Vlcek, all Omaha; 11 grandchildren, Kevin, Kayleen, Kyle, Greg, Sarah, and Catherine Stanek, Justin, E.J. and Tommy Hamilton, Amanda and Becca Vlcek; brothers-in-law, Don, Tony, and Ray Vodicka; other loving relatives and friends. Frank "Fritz" Stanek was a member of the Omaha Public School Board of Directors for 34 years.
Wake Tuesday 7pm at Assumption Catholic Church. FUNERAL Wednesday 10am at Assumption Catholic Church. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION begins Tuesday at 2pm at the Church. Memorials to Assumption Cathlic Church, St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Gross High School, OPS School Foundation, or the American Cancer Society Relay for Life #27. KORISKO LARKIN STASKIEWICZ

I remember Fritz from the days in the late 40's when we were at Creighton Prep together. He was a year behind me so we didn't have all that much contact with one another, but I still remember his confident bearing and the jaunty angle of his jaw. I'm sorry to lose a Prepster of that era: they are all a special breed.

Dear Dad, I'm going to have to say googbye today for sure and it is going to be very hard. You were the greatest father to me and the No #1 g- pa to my girls. My girls are are going to miss you terribly also. Thank you for never saying "No" and always being there for me. I will be alright now cause I have Mom with all her faith, a wonderful husband and beautiful girls that will help me thru this. Alice and Family - I'm so sorry to hear about Fritz. I will always remember you living across the street from my Millie and Emil, my grandparents. Fritz was a wonderful man and will be missed by all who knew him. I'm sorry I was not able to attend the Rosary this evening, I have been sick with strep throat/sinus infection and did not want to give it to anyone. My thought and prayers are with you all. South Omaha will mourn the loss of Fritz Stanek for a long time. He leaves behind such a great legacy! He did so many things for our community and Assumption Parish. The Czech festival will never be the same! You are in our thoughts and prayers.

May God console you in your time of grief for Mr. Stanek. I didn't know him personally, but knew of him and his work on the School Board for 34 years.He was a very dedicated man, and his faith and good works have ensured him a place with God in Heaven. Most of us can't accomplish the good he did for others in this life.
