I worked with Fred at Ace on 90th. He was a very fun person to work with. Many of our customers would only talk to him to solve their problems. Some customers would just stop by to visit with him and enjoy his Scottish brogue. He always told the best stories and enjoyed sharing his life story

John & family:
We are so deeply sorry to hear of this great peddlar's departure for the Big Sales Meeting beyond.
I've known Fred for many years during both my Auto Supply career and most currently at Murdock Industrial. He was a good friend & supporter both personally and of the Companies I've worked for. Fred had a wealth of knowledge of his industry both on the lines he sold and the competition. He wasn't afraid to "go to bat" for the distributor or the end-user. Some of his funniest & best stories were on himself and boy did he ever know how to laugh & cut-up. We always had a standing joke about a certain vendor who put the same $5 service charge on a $100 order or on a $20,000+ order. The Rep World could stand a lot more Fred's & a lot fewer arrogant, know-it-alls who are out only for the bucks with no loyalties to old friends & supporters. Folks who were lucky enough to have known & worked with him came away from the transaction better people. He was very proud of his entire family & if you really wanted to see him grin just ask about the grandkids!
My prayers and blessings go out to all of Fred's family & friends. He will be truly missed by everyone who he touched.

Technically Fred & his agency worked for me at American Tool, but in reality he worked for American Tool, his customers, his agency and then me. That was always OK with me.
He was always a gentlemen whose customers loved to see him.
I called him "Fearless" Fred. The first time we worked together in NE he arrived 30 minutes late to pick me up and then he ran out of gas one mile from our meeting. You have to be "Fearless" to pull that one off.

We were very sorry to hear about the passing of Fred Scott. We had just began to work with Fred. We could see that he had great knowledge of the industry. Our condolences go out to his family.

Very Sorry for your loss...I just met Fred three weeks ago at a football game...he came to watch his granddaughter dance and my son Christian was running around with his grandson Ian, who is in his class. We stood together and watched them run around and laughed at all their energy and just got to talking to eachother for awhile. What a nice man!

Fred Scott was a fine gentleman who stopped to say hello to everyone in the office. His sense of humor and witty conversation kept all of us entertained when Fred visited us at Deco Tool Supply. I will remain inspired with Fred's dedication to his work and the sheer longevity of his career. I wish to express my condolences to Fred's family and friends.

I am very sad to hear of Fred's death. I worked with him over the course of about 6 years and he was one of my all-time favorite reps! He was also just a wonderful person-very caring, very funny, very dedicated, a person of true integrity. The love he had for his wife and family was evident in every conversation we had. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time.

To the family of Fred Scott: I had the privilege of working with Fred (and later Gary, Bob and John) when I started at Petersen Manufacturing 30 years ago. If one of his customers in NE had an emergency and needed tools, Fred would drive down, have us invoice the order on the spot and he'd deliver them. He was just a great salesman who gave it all for his customers. We worked many hardware shows together and the time passed quickly with Fred to converse with.

Larry and I also worked with Fred at a couple of the DeWitt Civic Club pancake feeds and boy, the stories he could tell! It helped lighten the work of frying pancakes.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. He will be missed greatly.

Fred Scott represented my Company US Tape Company. He was not just a salesman, but a very good friend who will be missed greatly. We always had a bet on how many games the KC Royals would win He won most of the time. He was loved by everyone back east at our factory. I will miss our phone calls that we still made to one another. It was an honor to have known him

I have had the privilege of knowing Fred for the better part of 25 years, as both a business colleague and friend. Every encounter with Fred yielded a new story, each more interesting that the last, largely due to the teller.

A more gracious man , there has never been. My wife and father-in-law met Fred but one time, but because of how he treated them they, often spoke of Fred as if he were a life long friend.

After their one meeting, Fred sent my wife several options for weight loss . My wife laughed and laughed. When I ask Fred why he had sent her this information he realized that he meant to send her literature on skin care products. The weight loss suggestions were meant for someone else.

Fred will be missed by many, and remembered by all that had the opportunity to meet him.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

To the family of Fred Scott: I have very fond memories of Fred when he worked in DeWitt. He ate lunch almost every day at our house where my mother, Virginia Petersen, cooked lunch for my dad Richard Petersen, my brother Allen Petersen, and the rest of us. He spoke at my brother Allen's memorial service in Chicago in 2007 when he died. I learned a lot about marketing from the conversations that happened around our kitchen table. I now own a company that Allen began shortly before he died, called Petersen Brands, and the lessons I learned from Fred and my family have been very valuable. Although I don't know the rest of you, please know that Fred was an extrememly large part of my growing up years. I am hugely grateful that he was in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and the days to come.

Diane and Kelly,
It was just a short time ago that we first met you all. I was delighted to share a taco dinner with my new neighbors and Randy on your patio. My son enjoyed your company too when you had him over for brats! He thought Fred was pretty cool! I knew the moment I met you and your family, that we were blessed. Fred shared his love of his life, Diane, his wonderful sons and grandchildren, and his dear sweet daughter Kelly. He was great at offering neighborly tips and truly made us feel welcome! He loved the golf outings with his sons, and spoke fondly of the memories he had from coaching his sons with baseball. He loved the quiet little spot up at Boystown that you had family picnics at. He inspired me to visit your pristine church with the wonderful music and awesome pastor. Fred was so kind to my son, who was looking forward to learning a few throwing tips from Fred. Fred offered neighborly kindness like that of my own father. "For I know the plans I have for you", said our Lord. We are blessed to have known Fred, even if only for a short while. It was in His great plans that brought us together as neighbors. Diane and Kelly, may you feel peace and comfort, knowing your old neighbors care and lift you up in prayer. God bless you and your family. Most sincerely, Sara Brown and David

I was deeply saddened when I heard of Fred's passing. I first had the privilege of meeting Fred when he visited the Wilmington, OH office of the American Tool Company. What a wonderful man he was! Of course he had the whole office in an uproar as he had a tendency to do everywhere he went! He had a big personality and an even bigger heart. Diane, Gary, John, Bob and Kelly..my heart goes out to all of you and your families. I know what a loss this is for all of you. I also know what a wonderful family you are and have confidence that you will find strength in each other. You are in my continued thoughts and prayers.

I had the privilege of working and traveling with Fred over the past few years. He was not just an associate, but a good friend. As we shared meals together on the road our conversation would always turn to Fred's family and friends. His wife and family, golf and Husker's football were always favorite topics of conversation. Fred was my good friend, and I will miss him very much.

Fred was my brother- in-law and was a good friend. Fred had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. If Fred was you friend, he was your friend for life. Fred was a great husband and father and had a joy of life that was infectious. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten and remembered with much love and true affection. If heaven doesn't run a football pool, I know they will from now on. Randy

I first met Fred almost 30 years ago when I started working at Petersen Manufacturing in DeWitt, Nebraska. He was always friendly, very passionate about his work and you could hear his laugh throughout the office. I'll always remember the fun times we had at work and "choir practices" after work. He was always the life of the party. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Our deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers for Fred's family.

Although I don't remember the game in question some 30+ years ago, I still remember the bet..Fred put up a milkshake vs. me mowing his lawn. I really enjoyed that milkshake! One of many good memories of growing up as a neighbor of Fred and the Scott family. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Fred was a co-worker and more importantly a friend. My wife and son called him uncle Fred, my daughter called him cookie-man. Fred became part of who I am today. I want his wife and children to know I have great memories of Fred, and will think about him for as long as I live. GOD BLESS

I had the privilege of meeting Fred at my mom's work when I was 9yrs old. I was very shy and to make me laugh he jokingly told me he was a ballerina. So the name "Fred the Ballerina", stuck.

9 years later, I started going to the same mass at Christ the King, where he was an usher. Every single Sunday after mass I stopped to talk to him and made sure never to leave without a bear hug. When I left for school 3 weeks ago, that Sunday was no different.

My prayers and blessings go out to all of Fred's family, he will be greatly missed.

I had the honor to meet Fred almost 35 years ago. The pride he showed for his family, friends and business was unmatched. We have lost a great friend, inspirition and role model. There was never a time, that he did not want to talk about Gary, John, Bob or Kelly. I hope all the people in heaven are ready for Fred, the greatest salesman ever. He will be selling something there, as he once said, he would never retire. My prayers and blessings go out to the family, he was a great one....be proud.
