Herbert Lauge Hansen was 97 years young!
From Nebraska City, Lincoln, Australia, Antarctica, Washington, D.C, Omaha and in recent years, Linden View and Good Samaritan in Syracuse, NE.
Predeceased by adored wife, Helen (Gordon) Hansen; beloved mother, Minnie (Olsen) Hansen, and father, Hans Hansen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Ida Jane Gordon; siblings and (spouses), Betty (Nelson) Boylan, Richard (Mary) Hansen and Paul (Arla Mae) Hansen; cherished nieces/nephews; and long-time best friend, Bernadine Johnson.
Herb was a treasured family patriarch, South Pole scientist/explorer/adventurer, Army and Air Force veteran, world traveler, meteorologist and cartographer.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Roper and Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Dr., Lincoln, NE. Service livestreaming will be available.
