J. Michael "Mick" Connolly

March 2, 1948 - September 18, 2025

J. Michael "Mick" Connolly was born March 2, 1948, and entered into rest on September 18, 2025. He graduated from Creighton Prep High School in 1965. He then attended Assumption College in South Dakota and received an undergraduate degree in accounting. He briefly attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa. He began his accounting career in Glenwood, Iowa, and then began work at Goodwill Industries, during which time he became CFO. He was instrumental in the opening of the Council Bluffs, Iowa, store, at which then Gov. Terry Branstad was in attendance for the grand opening ceremony. He was involved in the Downtown Rotary Club. Mick was also involved in Community Theater with roles at Chanticleer Theater, The Rose Theater, and Dundee Theater. He was preceded in death by spouse, John Ireland; parents, Timothy and Anna Connolly; brothers, Gerald Connolly and William Connolly; sisters, Sr. Patricia Connolly and Marietta Huppert, and Maryann Connolly; nephew, Christian Connolly. Mick is survived by nieces, Stephanie and Dorothea Connolly; cousins; and many friends.

Memorial Mass for Mick Connolly will be held, Friday, October 3, 2025, 11 a.m. at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Council Bluffs. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. at the church. Following the mass, Mick will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery with a lunch and open bar to follow in the parish hall. Memorials to be directed to Stephanie Connolly.
