J. Knudsen Obituary

J. Kevin Knudsen

July 18, 1956 - March 29, 2025

Kevin, 68, died of natural causes in Omaha. A 1974 graduate of Bryan High, Kevin was a longtime computer technician at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (retired 2022) and earlier worked at Northern Natural Gas. In recent years, Kevin was a dedicated volunteer, an avid patron of our regional museums, and an eight-time visitor to Hawaii.

Parents John R. Knudsen and Doris J. Knudsen Kavanagh predeceased him. He is survived by brothers Scott Knudsen (Sandie), Mick Knudsen (Barb), both of Omaha, and Greg Knudsen (Karen) of Honolulu, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Kevin was known for his tenacity and intelligence, his easy going nature, and dry senses of humor. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

A private graveside service will be held at Westlawn Memorial Park.

Kevin was such a great person to work with at UNMC and NE Medicine.
I worked with him for many years.
He was exceptional at his job and kept services running that provided care to patients and information to nurses, doctors and students as well as keeping the financial systems running smoothly.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

I'm in stunned disbelief that my younger brother Kevin has left us so soon. My wife Karen and I were so glad that he was able to visit us in Hawaii nearly every year since 2016. We watched him emerge and engage in so many new experiences, including a helicopter flight over an active volcano (his idea), and numerous Asian and Pacific cultural activities.

Kevin truly loved Hawaii, as well as his new apartment and retirement in Omaha. Quiet, thoughtful, and inquisitive, he was reconnecting and developing his role in an expanding world.

Aloha Kevin, we dearly miss you.

Kevin, you have been a blessing to me! So many memories growing up, dinners around the table with all of our brothers. Being the only girl, I enjoyed your Mom and learned from her Vibrant Entertaining! Loved your postcards from Hawaii, which I know was your favorite place in retirement! Carry On Kev! I will always remember your genuine friendship - proud to call you my cousin!
