James Liggett Obituary
September 17, 1946 - November 13, 2023
James Walter Liggett, 77, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away on November 13, 2023, at Harbor Hospice, after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 17, 1946, in Atlantic, IA, to Maurice and Doris Lent Liggett.
A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, in Council Bluffs, IA, James worked as a dedicated salesman for Nebraska Distributing. His love for family and friends was evident in the joyous gatherings he cherished. He was a proud Iowa Hawkeye and LA Dodger baseball fan, and he also had a passion for cars.
James is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Kathryn Liggett; his daughters, Maureen Sue Gadbois and Karen Lee Saunders; his granddaughter, Chelsea Sue Felix; his great-grandchildren, Tristan Allen Sievers, Rhett Scott Dean Felix, and Wayne Jimmy Lee Felix; his in-laws, Shirley Nevins, Roger Schmidt, Carolyn Arvin, and their families; along with other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Dean Liggett.
A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, located at 3939 Lake St., Lake Charles, LA. Msgr. Daniel Torres will serve as Celebrant. CREMATION has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. A MEMORIAL GATHERING and INURNMENT will be held, in Council Bluffs, IA, at a later date.
