John Clark Obituary

Clark, John Winfield "Jack"

April 11, 1936 - July 13, 2021

John Winfield "Jack" Clark, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, with his family by his side, after a brief fight with his fourth bout of cancer. Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, Jack went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1958, where he lettered in tennis and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He married his high school sweetheart, Judith Chapman Clark, on December 20, 1958. After college, Jack served in the United States Air Force as a weather officer from 1958 to 1961. Upon being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he began a 52-year career as a stockbroker/investment advisor with Francis I. duPont & Co., First Mid America Inc., Paine Webber Inc. and UBS. Jack loved his work and was always dedicated to serving his clients' financial needs and goals. When he finally retired in 2014, it just so happened to be on the same day his grandson, Winn Clark, started in the brokerage business.

Jack was known by his friends, family and clients for his sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor. He had a laugh that was infectious, and he never met an ice cream sundae that he didn't like. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and backpacker who hiked and camped in every inch of his beloved Wyoming Wind River Mountain Range for over 30 years. Jack's caring nature and generosity were among his greatest attributes, but perhaps his most enduring quality was his love for his family. Jack always put family first and he enjoyed spending quality time with them as much as he could. He and his wife Judy were passionate about travel and took their family on several overseas trips of a lifetime, the last of which included traipsing across Europe with their 1- and 3-year-old greatgrandchildren. These experiences created lasting memories that his loved ones will cherish forever.

Known to his family as "Papa," he is survived by his wife, Judy, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; his sons, David (Catherine) and Stephen; his grandchildren, Katelin (Johnny), Winn (Nikki) and Kirsten (Mike); his great-grandchildren, Jack and Emmy; and many nieces and nephews.

Jack's Memorial Service is Saturday, August 7, 2021, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church (11810 Burke Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68154) at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts in memory of Jack to the American Cancer Society (P. O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123) or the St. Luke's Child Development Center (11810 Burke Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68154).
