He was such a fun guy in high school and he sure does look like Beretta. Last saw him at the 50th reunion and he was up to his old tricks. I´m so glad he was such a well loved coach. RIP Johnny.

I just had to write one more statement after reading through all of these great comments about Coach.
I think I can speak for all of us wrestlers who wrestled for him (and others) and put Coach in perspective ...
Coach was the Tom Osborne of Wrestling Coaches! He cared about each one of us and got on us when he needed to (run stairs) and when we deserved it. On the flip side he was always crakin jokes and being funny. He taught us life skills and got us jobs. I can attest to that cuz I worked along side of him scoopin salt at the meat packing plants with a few of my other team mates. As Ron A said he was literally a father figure to many of us cuz we spent so much time together. We even went to Aksarben horse races together. I got my start and learned to play horses all because of Him. Some of you know what I'm talkin bout here.
I learned how to do things that you want to be good at and have PASSION to be Good at it because of Coach!

Coach ... You are a Champion in my book cuz you created, developed and taught so many of us how to be Champions!

Wowww, what do you say to a man that meant so much to me throughout my entire life!!

Coach was truly a father figure to me and taught me to be a Winner, not only on the mat but in my life to this very day. The one and most important thing I can absolutely say about Coach is that he taught me to be a Man!!

The one thing that is embedded and ingrained in my mind is that he always cared so much for all students and his athletes and was always there to help, but most importantly he gave such amazing advice on how to handle our problems of being a teenager in school.

I want to sincerely thank Sharon and the boys so so much for letting me be an extremely close member of their family for so long!!

I Praise God that he brought Coach and his family into my life, He will be truly missed by all of us...Gob Bless you COACH!!

Coach DeGeorge was my PE teacher and wrestling coach. A great man who I will miss. Years ago he dubbed me Warren Wheels because of my speed. I carried that nickname proudly. Coach made an indelible mark on the canvas of my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My coach;
Unfortunately I wish I would have kept in closer touch with him.
He taught me a lot about toughness and a lot about just life.
He was a good man who had a great family a great wife in Sharon, and a great bunch of sons.
I am greatly sorry for your loss.

John... I heard your name from my husband, Joe, many times because you wrestled together at South. After his passing I moved into an apartment and was able to meet you as you became my neighbor and everything Joe said about you was true. You were a wonderful person and I am so glad I was able meet you. Rest in Pease John.

I am so happy I got to spend time with him recently talking about the good old days. I loved watching him and my dad laughing at all those wrestling meets we seemed to live at. He always was kind to me. To those who loved him, I am sorry for your loss.

Sending prayers to coach's family. Rest in Peace Coach Thanks for always welcoming me to the gym! You gave me a place to retreat when school was tough, taught me the right way to lift weights and always a kind, listening ear. You really exemplify an excellent educator and role model. My condolences to his family. Mr. DeGeorge was always so much fun! He was my PE teacher at Bryan. I remember all the kids trying to run to PE class and being sad when it was over. He had such a great sense of humor. When I got to high school, I always felt like he was still looking out for us. Prayers for his family.

My sincere condolences to the family. He was a great man and even better mentor. I loved him as my weight lifting coach and I loved to watch him coach his wrestlers. My younger brother was one of them, and he passed away in 06. Coach actually came to his funeral and got up and spoke. He was a Hell of a Man, and He will be missed. Rest in peace Coach. Love ya.

I was a terrible wrestler. But coach never put me down and he tried his best to bring out the best in me. As an adult when I would see him he always "talked me up" as if I was one of his stars. We need more of that in the world. I hope that all the kind words from people on this page will bring strength and peace to all the family during this difficult time.

I´m glad I had the opportunity reconnect with him this last year and was blown away at how he remembered EVERYTHING and EVERYONE which is exactly how I knew him to be while growing up. RIP Coach!
